Topic/Skill: Spelling
Aziz's skill level in speaking and listening are very advanced. He is able to comprehend everything I say and ask him, but he struggles with reading and writing, more particularly spelling. Because it was our first meeting together, I had to gauge his skill level in these areas. I started with an intermediate spelling activity that I found online. It was a multiple choice style quiz that gave three different options for each word, one of which was correct while the other two were common spelling mistakes. He was able to correctly answer around 70-75% of the words, but there were a few that he guessed based on the phonetical spelling of the word. Aziz expressed a desire to learn more vocabulary that is associated with sports and business, as he is going into his sports management masters program and would like to be more comfortable with the terminology he will need to use.
