Peter CP # 3
Yesterday
I went with Raul to Tallahassee’s AMC theatre. We watched ‘Going in Style’,
which starred Morgan Freeman, Michael Cain, and Alan Arkin—three friends who,
when having lost their pension, decide to rob a bank, after Michael’s
character, Joe, gets the idea from witnessing a robbery for himself. I didn’t like
the movie: the outcomes of it were easily predictable and provided no suspense,
and the dialogue was encumbered by clichés. Raul seemed to like it, though. (He
told me so.) It was easy to understand, he said. He asked what the accent of
Cain’s character was. British. Before the movie had started, Raul told me about
how he was struggling with the verbs ‘to make’ and ‘to do’, which he was using interchangeably.
To help him, we both started coming up with sentences using both verbs. He seemed
to be learning from the ones I gave him, and was asking good questions about
them.

Sorry to hear about not enjoying the movie, but I'm glad you were able to still teach Raul some English!
