Sabrina CP#4

April 8th: 2pm to 6pm
Lunch at my place with friends.

I invited Rehab to have lunch at my place with a few of my friends. When Rehab arrived, she brought with her a delicious Egyptian dish. She said it was a dish she was most proud of. It was a tomato based dish with a lot of beef and rice. It really was delicious and my other friends loved it too! Rehab is a very social person and it took her no time to get acquainted with my other friends. They also really liked her cheerful personality. Rehab told me that she was very happy that I had invited her with my other friends as lately she had been feeling down. She recently had to move with her children and it had been a hectic week. The gathering was a great get away for her.

During lunch, Rehab loved the dishes I had cooked except the dish that had eggs in them. She told me her family and her just don’t eat eggs. She said it had nothing to do with culture but just her own personal preference.

Later on, while having tea, Rehab shared with me how tea is served in Egypt. She also shared an experience where she visited an Indian family and when they served tea, she found it very spicy. We then talked about traditional Egyptian outfits. Rehab really likes looking at different cultural dresses. I showed her pictures of my wedding and she loved the red and gold colors of my wedding dress. In Egypt, it is a norm to wear white just like the American weddings. This was something I did not know! Rehab really wants to learn how to wear sari (a traditional south asian attire for women). My Pakistani friend introduced her to a website where you can purchase saris. We offered to teach Rehab how to wear a sari in the near future. It was a great, fun gathering!
