For our fifth meeting, I met Fahd and Saeed for dinner at
Backwoods Bistro. We had a very nice dinner. I asked them if they liked the
food here, and Saeed was not very enthusiastic but Fahd has tried lots of
different restaurants here which I think is awesome! He eats Chic-Fil-A all the
time, like so many people at FSU. We both enjoy Greek food like Pitaria next to
campus. Interestingly, in Kuwait they have many of the same fast food chains as
in the U.S. Restaurants like McDonalds seem to be ubiquitous everywhere you go
in the world. They also have KFC, Subway, etc. We also talked about their plans
for school- both of them will be at CIES over summer, and then hopefully they
will both go to college in the U.S. This seems like a great idea for developing
their English skills, so I’m excited for them.
