4/7/17 8-9am So-young
Yesterday morning was the first mtg with my (new) adult tutee, So-young. She lives in Seoul, Korea, so we set a time and skyped! She's 19 yrs old, studying history in her 2nd year at a university. Since it was our first mtg, it was more of a get-to-know-you mtg. I found that she's an only child, which has put a lot of pressure on her, but she loves her parents very much. She enjoys reading books, going to the movies, napping, and rock climbing in her spare time. She has played the violin for 3 yrs and the piano for more than 10 yrs. She is the president of her newspaper club, and seems to keep busy. To me, it seems like her English is very advanced.
When asking what she wanted to gain from our tutoring sessions, she mentioned writing and reading. Our next meeting is tomorrow morning and I plan to provide an article for her and discuss it in depth. She said she's interested in politics, society, and culture. I will most likely come up with comprehension questions and go over vocabulary.
