Taslima's Place
We had a fun time this session describing people. I presented Taslima with a list of adjective words. With each word, I had an example sentences I had come up with. We reviewed all 25 adjectives together. Afterwards, I showed Taslima five different pictures: children's playground, family picnic, carnival, graduation party, and a baby shower. I asked her to describe the people and what they were doing in the picture. I also added my own input which encouraged her to elaborate on the detail or notice something else in the pictures.
For the next portion of our session, I asked her to describe certain people in her life. I asked her to use one adjective from the list in describing these people. While she spoke, I noted down the errors. Afterwards, I also described a few people in my life using the adjectives. We corrected the errors together at the end of class. I feel like Taslima has really improved since our first class. She is not too shy to make errors and is opening up to fixing her mistakes. She is also asking more questions which makes it challenging for sometimes since I am not always prepared with an answer. But also I think it is helping Taslima gain information and enhance her English speaking skills.
