Nicole Tutoring 5
Harry missed his session last week because he was traveling for his sport. So when we met today Harry had a few different assignments he was in the middle of working on. The most pressing assignment was a speech for his public speaking course. The course could easily be a challenge for Harry but surprisingly, it's not. Harry has a great attitude about the course and you can tell he enjoys the course work. This week he has to complete an informative speech. We brainstormed some topics and Harry decided he wanted his topic to teach people how to join the military. He chose this because it is what he hopes to do when he returns home. Since his classmates are mainly American citizens he wanted to tailor the speech on how to join the American military. This means quite a lot of research for Harry since he's not familiar with the process. Harry did some work on his own to get a base so we would have something to work with. We then started the speaking portion. Since this was for a graded assignment we decided to keep the language basic, mainly using words he was comfortable with. Harry did a practice speech which I videoed for him, he then went back and watched it. We picked up some different pieces for him to improve on - mainly pronunciation. He's going to practice a few more times on his own and then record the session! After listening and reading through I'm seeing Harry has some difficulties with articles. This is something I would like to work on with him next session.
