Nicole Tutoring 3

Harry is working on reading a book for his Sports and Society class. His book is about ice hockey, a sport he is very unfamiliar with. The language in the book is not too complex but it is still above Harry's reading level. I have been able to get a copy of the book so I have a point of reference for our meetings.  I asked him to summarize the last chapter he read for me.  He was missing some of the key pieces of the story and didn't fully comprehend all of the pieces.  I then worked through and explained the story to him and used very basic language, trying to provide other examples he may be more familiar with.  For the next chapter I've asked him to highlight all of the words he struggles to understand the pronunciation and then to use a different color to highlight the words with meanings he doesn't understand.
