For my eighth session with Haiqiong, I helped her with
another final paper. This essay was about the traditional Chinese instrument the
qin and how its role in Chinese culture has been changed by globalization and
modernization. Again, many of the errors were related to verb usage, for
example “has being used” instead of “have been used” or “transmit” rather than “transmitting”.
Slowly but surely, her writing has improved which I’m very happy about. She’s
taking into account the feedback I give her and making fewer mistakes. I’m
suited for the attention to detail that reading & editing papers requires,
and Haiqiong is so sweet that I enjoyed helping her! We’re going to keep in
touch, and she might connect me with some friends that need tutoring over the
summer.
