Kim CO #3
On March 9, I observed Ryan Flemming's Listening 3A class from 2-2:50 pm. The students all came to class prepared with their Learn to Listen textbooks. During the class period, the students listened to a lecture called "How to Deal With Stress." Ryan played the audio clip for the class and the students were instructed to take notes on the main ideas in the lecture. Students then worked with partners to discuss what they had written down as the main points. Ryan then played the lecture for a second time and asked the students to take notes on the supporting details of the main points. As homework, students will use the notes that they took during class to write a summary of the lecture. In addition, the students will be quizzed on comprehension when class meets the week after Spring Break. During class, students asked questions about unfamiliar vocabulary from the lecture. I enjoyed this lesson because the content was interesting and relatable. During the last 5 minutes of class, the students reflected on their own stressors and how they manage stress with their classmates.
